Although I still prefer Tim Vining's "Star Trek Aurora", I'll readily admit that the quality of the live-action fan material is rising by leaps and bounds (and, given a choice between this and an episode of "Jersey Shore", I think the result would be obvious).

I'm personally glad to see as much care being given to casting as to production design (in earlier days the casting seemed to be something of an afterthought).

I'm not getting what you are after? I'll give it a stab anyway.

The only actor I might have liked, compared with the "traditional" (about said original) crew, potentially, is the captain. I didn't dislike Shatner, but this one had a better 'cast' to him. *grins* Then again, I think S.T. would have been a totally different series. I'm not sure I would have liked that, sum total. But it's all theory without having seen a lot more, or better, the two doing the same scenes a couple of times. I absolutely despise the original cast, for the most part, Spock and the black chick were absolutely wrong for the parts.

I truly loved Star Trek. I did think the captain was a showboat, but how much of that was scripted who knows. But Shatner was certainly more of a showboater than this guy, by far. It was as much a melodrama, as I grew and realized, as a sci-fi. Still, it was great fun back in the day, and for years later on re-runs when I first became too ill to work.

I'm almost wondering if there is something I am missing? It seems to be a review of the original run? Is there something coming up? I dunno, but sometimes I just can't see things the way I have my security settings and such?

Vic Mignogna (the fair-haired child of anime dubbing actors - played Broly in DBZ, and Edward Elric in Full Metal Alchemist) is playing Kirk, down to the jaw-clenching. Grant Imahara (of Mythbusters) is Sulu, and James Doohan's son Chris has taken over the brogue.

The folks doing this have recreated the original soundstage faithfully. The vignette here is an attempt to show their chops at recreating the original "feel" of the series. They are going on to film new stories in future.
