Miscellany

Just gonna say this to all the whiners about Art Bell.
When you have done what he has done, and established paranormal/UFO late night talk as a viable moneymaking format, then you can whinge. Otherwise, shut your pie holes.

--------------------
Art Bell has bailed amidst gunshots, fearful women, and a dreadful fanbase.
--------------------
I like Gravity Falls better than I like Doctor Who.
There. I said it.
--------------------
Apparently our Chinese takeout was constructed from road kill. Woke up WA-A-A-A-AY too early with...issues. Tummy is all queasy-like. Clearly a TERRISS attack upon my person. I must contact the Department of Homeland Gastronomy and have it, nay, ALL Chinese places shut down, because TERRISS.
Or, y'know, maybe I just won't go there again....
--------------------
Why exactly does each episode of Space:1999 feel like two-and-a-half hours?

--------------------------
Dear, dear meme-posting believers:
"Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap." (Galatians 6:7)
--------------------------
This, from C.H. Spurgeon's FB page.
All that, and he loved cigars, too!

--------------------------
Gravity Falls is just the best thing EVER.
Except for pie...maybe....
--------------------------
Y'know, if we spent our time thinking it through rather than posting memes engineered to divide us, we might all be a lot better off.
Ju-u-u-u-st maybe....
---------------------------
I burned my Ouija board in high school.
I was so disappointed when it did not scream.
---------------------------
I believe that I want to do a series of videos reading books aloud. SHORT books. Short stories. Poetry. Like that.
Any suggestions? (I DO wish to avoid lawsuits....)

Happy Sunday!

In regards to "Space: 1999", I feel it suffered from a case of what I call "plot drift". A basic plot would be established, and then the writers would try and inject elements of human interest into the situation. There are some shows which could place such elements into place with an expert flair and make this work. And then there was "Space: 1999".

(And "Star Trek: The Next Generation", but you were talking about "Space: 1999".)

We do not speak of ST:TNG.

...Unless it is to speak of shoving Troi from an airlock.

The last time I sassed about 1999 I wasn't sure if I had stumbled into snark and bit as if it wasn't. So I won't say anything more. Not even about ST:TNG. Only... *zzz* sputtering cough *zzz* Wake me when it's appropriate.

Oh, and no pun, or snark intended, but... amen. *grins*

Gravity Falls you say? I might have to look into it. I have been enjoying Supernatural and Fringe, if having to choke through a lot of politically correct b.s. and such. The stories are in there, just covered in trash. I'll give it a look. I am buying series on blu-ray so I don't have to fuss or deal with lievertisement... mostly. It's still in there. Uhrm, I guess that is a series? I haven't had cable again for a while. Had it again for a bit for when my mom visits, then they talked me into it for $5 a month. But that was junk on top of junk so I dumped it again. Bleh.

GF is a Disney animated series. Amazon video has the 2 seasons for sale. I f you have EVER been entertained by Art Bell or other paranormal media (even if that entertainment was from laughing at it), then GF will be a joy. Characterisation is great, character design is fun, voice work is top-notch. Stories are great. Alex Hirsch has a specific story arc, and when that is done, it's over.

1999 is eminently sass-worthy. Have at it.

Or it could've been cilantro. My system can't handle it (as I found out the one time I visited a Vietnamese restaurant in Houston years ago).

"Ci-lantro? What in the cockadoodle is ci-lantro?" (from "Atlantis: The Lost Continent")

You can't go wrong with O'Henry (and even the bastards who've screwed up copyrights haven't yet messed around with him).

Second suggestion: the poems of Kipling ("The Overland Mail" is a particular favorite).
