Saturday Night...

Charlie X is sending EVERYONE into the cornfield!

-------------------------------------------------------

Dr. Cyclops coming up on Svengoolie. I will soberblog along tonight, editing this as I go.

------------------------------------------------------

Yeoman Rand. DAT NIGHTGOWN!!!

------------------------------------------------------

Wow. The "I want to stay!" by Charlie as he disappears is one of the creepiest bits of soundwork out there.
 ------------------------------------------------------

Doctor Cyclops, in color, wherein we learn of the wonders of Radium or somesuch.

"Dr. Alexander Thorkel: Are we then country doctors? You do not realize what we have here.
In our very hands, we have the cosmic force of creation itself. In our very hands,
we can shape life, take it apart, put it together again, mould it like putty.

Dr. Mendoza: But what you are doing is mad. It is diabolic!
You are tampering with powers reserved to God.

Dr. Alexander Thorkel: That is good. That is very good. That is just what I am doing."

------------------------------------------
The Doc is a REAL people person. The amazing thing is how firmly entrenched
the Hollywood vision of "The Scientist" is in our culture. Garbed in their
sacerdotal lab coats, they intercede with the realm of Science, bringing us the Word
from the quantum gods.
Does this cotton smell like chloroform to you?

Dr. Alexander Thorkel:
Strange how absorbed man has been in the size of things!

---------------------------------------------

The film was the first SF film done in 3-color Technicolor.
The brilliance of the color is a wonder after seventy years.
---------------------------------------------

B&W "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea". Giant Octopus (with squidly bits),
and GIANT CATFISH! Richard Carlson plays the Grim Scientist in
Norway. Trondheim fjord is referenced (also referenced in "Jonny Quest"!
 "The House of Seven Gargoyles")

Giant catfish?

8-bow window Seaview, with "It Came From Beneath the Sea"
stock footage of the Octopus.

G'night.

Yeoman Rand!

I saw her in that episode last night, just as a very odd random event. Uhrm. I thought naughty things. She was always one of my favorites, if I had forgotten until I saw her. Yum!

I don't know if I can handle Dr. Cyclops, but I think I saw it adverted for tonight. I'm not sure I get the channel though, and maybe it was for yesterday. I'll look for it.

I used to love those movies. I can't watch some of them anymore though. Jackie Paper probably understands. Puff? Not so much?

When I originally commented I clicked the "Notify me when new comments are added" checkbox and now each time a comment is added I get three emails with the
same comment. Is there any way you can remove people from that service?
Appreciate it!

@Doom: Excellent "Puff the Magic Dragon" reference.

I met Grace Lee Whitney once at a con. She is a sweetheart! Gave her a shirt. I'll put up a pic if I can find it.

@Anonymous: I hesitate to point and shout "Liar, liar, pants on fire!" but your insertion of your Home-Business-flogging website is suspicious in the extreme. Alas, your beef is with Blogger. I have no clue on my end. The judicious use of the "delete" key would be indicated, that or look at it as a three-for-one bargain!

I wanna be a home business owner! ... Shirts maybe?

I get spam on mine all the time though complaining about a service is a new one to me. It's usually a "generic" non-complement coupled with a "Check out my home/web page" invite. Fat chance!
