YAY-uss. Say BAY-bee!

The Dread Dormomoo had a rev-uh-LAY-shun!!!

No, really.

In Matthew 26, when the woman gifted Jesus by anointing His head with the costly alabaster flask of ointment of pure nard, the bystanders said: "“Why this waste? For this could have been sold for a large sum and given to the poor.” Jesus REBUKED them!

"Why do you trouble the woman? For she has done a beautiful thing to me. For you always have the poor with you, but you will not always have me."

The DD's realisation is this:

Jesus rebuked the complainers for wanting to use HER resources to do what THEY deemed right. The "you" He used was plural. "You all have ample opportunity to bless the poor. She has taken this single opportunity to bless me."

We are individually called to help those who we are given opportunity to help. I do not have leave to tell YOU who to help, and how. Nor do you have leave to insist with what and how I help the needy. We are all to help as we see fit, and as God presents opportunity.

The problem of the bystanders was in confusion over thinking that problems could be solved through quantitative means (such as money) possessed by others, rather than through qualitative means (such as application of the spirit) possessed by themselves.

(The bystanders also could've been upset because it didn't occur to any of them to offer ointment to Jesus. People always get steamed when someone else beats them to a good idea.)
