Well, Japan's latex consumption would likely have dropped considerably! A lot more alien invader-type movies. Did Kurosawa ever do an SF-tinged movie? I cannot recall, but I still needed to invoke his name, himself being the inadvertent grandfather to "Star Wars".
Kurosawa did a film called "I Live In Fear". About a manufacturer obsessed with the possibility of a nuclear war & his trying to convince his familay to move to Brazil (Lots of people of Japanese descent in S. America.).
