A washboard for wasabi

I might be happier if sci fi writers and actors could get "silicon" and "silicone" straight.

Surprising how a teeny virus is big enough to make people surrender constitutional rights to government fiat.

More importantly, who really thought 2 follow-ups of FLCL were required?
I suspect Federal complicity.

Just realised this:
"Privilege" is a post-modern, Godless
term for "blessing".

When I was a kid, I attended a few funerals. The pallbearers would each have a red rose in their lapel.
I have been a pallbearer twice. We were given an adhesive embroidered rose for our lapels.
Postmodern form over substance.
Hateful. If my pallbearers have stickers, I will haunt you all.

Has the CDC issued new info?

Just got back from a GRUELING voice session for

The Dread Dormomoo and I attended the last "Anime South" convention (I think in 2014).
Whilst there, I was at the hotel lobby coffee stand getting some much-needed java. As I was doing the thing, I dropped the creamer cup in my coffee cup. "Herp derp" sez I.
The sweet young con attendee next to me looked in wonder and said "Don't take this the wrong way...I've never heard someone your age say 'Herp derp' before".
It pays to be culture-savvy.

Meanwhile, since I plan to make an ash of myself and be cremated, that's not a particular problem with me.
---------
Having a genuine need to watch
"The Andromeda Strain".
Thanks for reminding me of that.
---------
Been binge-watching "Thunderbirds Are Go", third season of "Young Justice", "Rosemary & Thyme" (British mystery series revolving around two women professional gardeners) and "Danger Man" (Patrick McGoohan just before he was swept away to the Village).
---------
And to all those people who sneered at me for preferring to stay indoors and read: PTHHHHHHPPPPPP!
Stay well, campers.
You, too, Unca Mikey!
Y'all OK in the wilds of Texas?
"Rosemary & Thyme" is a lovely thing, as Felicity Kendall continues to be!
I need to go through the whole Danger Man and Secret Agent series. I start, and then "Ooooo look, a kitty!" happens.
How do you like T'birds Are Go?
Love to you both!
Grey
OK, first off: the wilds of Texas. Denise and I love the quiet of Giddings, and hope the situation continues during the current contretemps (I've been wanting to use "contretemps" in a sentence for some time now). All is not peaches and gravy, though. I spent March 3 through the 10th in the hospital due to severe dehydration and very low sodium. All the tests point to my worthless autoimmune system (which went over to the Dark Side about the time I turned 50) making another attack on me.
Having practically no autoimmune system to speak of means, of course, that people are worried about me catching da big COVID! But this is where all those years of being a reclusive bookworm finally pays off. Except for grocery expeditions and doctor visits I don't poke my nose out of the apartment. Social distancing . . . to think that, at 64, I'm finally fashionable.
I was rather impressed with "Thunderbirds Are Go". Rather than having a lot of specialized vehicles cluttering up the Thunderbird-2 hangar, the pods carry a variety of components that can be mixed and matched to form particular vehicles and tools (with pod-4 still being a dedicated launch vehicle for Thunderbird-4).
Characterization is improved, especially in regards to the Hood. And Grandma Tracy's a tough old bird who has a lot more to do than her puppet counterpart. Virgil in Thunderbird-2 sees more action in the series than Scott in Thunderbird-1. My only nit is the constant repetition of the vehicle launch sequences (and there're no alternate views. Only the one stock shots). I know that, in a Gerry Anderson series, half the fun is in getting into the vehicles, but if the episodes would've simply cut to the actual takeoffs now and then, there'd be a bit more room for story (which are quite nice).
And the "Stalwart Old Trooper" Award goes to David Graham. He was the voice actor for Parker in the original series and . . . wait for it . . . is doing Parker's voice for "Thunderbirds Are Go". Not bad for an old campaigner in his mid-90s.
(And, speaking of voices, Rosamund Pike has Lady Penelope's act down cold.)
Our best to you and your sweet lady.
Michael
I have really enjoyed TaG! I do NOT care for this version of The Hood, a rather pedestrian grabbler with more money than sense. I miss the psychic shenanigans, the glowy-eye bit. (I emailed Jamie Anderson, thanking him for his stewardship of his Dad's universe (was that needlessly messianic?), but I told him that I require more FIRESTORM. I sez, sez I, "Don't make me go all glowy-eyed on you.".
Dunno. Might be a hate crime in Merrie Olde.
He is more cartoonish than even the original Hood.
The Hood. He is clearly The Villain With Something Extra. His schemes revolve around foiling Thunderbird One's Camera Detector (!), and then taking pictures of the Thunderbirds craft, and their control panels, whereupon he will become The Wealthiest Man In The World (or The Most Powerful. He is fickle). Because he has pictures. Of aircraft. And control panels. BWAHAHAHA!!! Pictures!
May I perhaps not speak of The Mechanic? Heck, why not? His whole drama-queen, gestures that play to the back row thing wearies me. Yes, he is in thrall to The Hoodster, but he is needlessly overdone. Again, cartoonish. Unrelatable.
Grandma rocks, but turning the Atomic Oven jockey of the mid-Sixties into a gran who can't even bake cookies is unconscionable.
David Graham.
Nay he live forever!
Lady P is hawt, and sounds it.
Overall, though, I quite like it.
Have you seen the "FIRESTORM" minisode?
Marionation has come of age.

Ta-ta.

I've seen the "Firestorm" piece and it intrigues me.
Every time I saw the Mechanic I kept thinking he should forget worrying about being under the Hood's control and, rather, work to escape the clutches of the Marvel Comics editors. But I liked him better than the Chaos Crew, who were simply nuisances with better toys.
Take care.
The Fat Man
One thing I forgot to mention. I really prefer Kayo to her earlier Tin-Tin incarnation. And the Thunderbird-S is a nice addition to the fleet.
But criminy: couldn't the producers have found a more complicated way to launch the damn thing?
Michael (and I still wouldn't step into a Star Trek transporter)
