Was printing last night, both local jobs and convention stuff, and ran across some DVDs that I had ripped from my own VHS tapes. Watched "Battle Beyond the Stars". It is ALWAYS a fun romp, with as odd an ensemble as you could hope to find. James Horner established the complete basis for most of his subsequent work. Many composers steal from others; Horner unabashedly stole from himself, and well.

With you on self-defense. It's hard, in one sense. It means you have to choose between what is right and wrong and not just say... well it's legal (or not), then let someone else deal with the particulars. Which, also, is why courts have become too powerful, and useless. No one wants to be the guy that says "no". God said it, but people are busily backing away from Him.
I used to 'could' blame my mom, then several of my gals. Now, though? Oh well. Dressed funny until I clowned it up on my own? Is your missus your neo-mom? :p Just... laughing at everything and everyone.
I'm not sure why you run in the social circles you run in, in the web environments? Though even on blogger, most bloggers start somewhat left of center then move lefter. There is no center, let alone right of center. Much like even Fox news. *cough* At that is what passes for conservative. It's merely a weakly crony base (cronyism being the private based socialism, versus the public form that is EBT and housing, etc). Maybe that is all there is for the interwebs... or all that is allowed on the major 'net' works?
It's difficult to find some of the old movies, and often they cost a fortune per. Is there a good source? Or a better source?
I'm just lucky I don't have balding of any kind. Thinning? No one escapes that. Lucky it's not worse with health though. On this side of things, being bald doesn't seem as much of a problem. But that isn't my call to make. I do wonder if there was ever a time in history when baldness wasn't an issue. Though it seems less so these day? More men go cue-ball (no snark). Which is the way I would go if I had that. Though... each to their own.
Well, many of the nevertrumps are actually very deeply set Republican system types and newheads. Those were never conservative, and have been pushing the McCains and Romneys, and even Bushs, since before Reagan. Nixon wasn't a conservative. Heck, he created the EPA. I honestly don't thin the Republican party has, or ever will be, conservative. People have been trying to ride that train that way, but it... just isn't so. A new party won't work (they always simple sell out), Dems won't every work, gonna have to ride this one hard. Just don't expect much from politics... it isn't salvational, or on your or it's own country's side. Bleh.
You sank their battleship! Oh, they'll keep trying. And they will fail. I am guessing, in the end, if they keep pushing, heads will roll. If the people fail, or fall, God gets out his bowling ball and things change. Unless... they open up things that God already closed. God seems to protect men from evil, but not evil they choose. Not sure these clots have it in them, but science? Since the Angel of Death, and before, science has been working on the unGodly.
If conventions are looking for physical beauty and snappy dressing, then all I've got to say is that Fandom's certainly changed since I was heavily involved.
The guy over LBJ's shoulder? I'm taking a stab in the dark and going with Al Feldstein. I'd almost say William Gaines, but I don't think Gaines was ever that thin.
Doom: Depending on what movie you want to see, finding old films is not that difficult. For instance: Battle Beyond the Stars is currently available on YouTube at https://youtu.be/WklPABGo77k I've depended on YouTube to see classics such as Transatlantic Tunnel, Gold, Die Frau im Mond, etc.
Three rules of thumb concerning YouTube. First: the more recent the film you want to see, the greater the odds that, if anyone has uploaded it, they're so afraid of the Dreaded YouTube Police that they'll take steps to distort the film in order to protect their precious skins (i.e. speed up the film a bit, blur the edges, etc.).
Second: sometimes you have to be clever to find what you want. A film might be found by searching for the name of the actor rather than the title of the film. A successful YouTube film uploader can be one of the most devious creatures in the universe.
Third: If you locate a good upload of a film then I suggest watching it as soon as possible. The YouTube Police have the morals of jackals. Unfortunately the hunting skills are also included.
If a YouTube search proves unsuccessful, then the TCM Store has a good library of films for sale at modest prices (although why the TCM Store thinks anyone will pay $16 for Fire Maidens of Outer Space is beyond me).
Thanks, Micheal. I think I had, at one time, used YT for that, but forgot, or stopped for health and never got back to it. Oh, well, and sometimes they would put them up in sections, and sections would be missing. Still, worth a shot again.
I think it could be bad to have a bad memory? I just can't recall. :p
